A small 13th century church located in the lincolnshire village of South Somercotes
With its tall, graceful spire rising above the wide flat landscape, St Peter’s has been called ‘The Queen of the Marsh’. The building is mainly 13th century, but with tower and spire somewhat later, and many windows inserted in the 15th. The 15th century font carved with the instruments of the Passion is notable and there is good woodwork. Reduced water levels in the marsh over the years have caused serious subsidence and underpinning has recently been carried out by the Trust.
